APAA Inperson Meeting

  • Elevating People: The focus remains on empowering individuals in the community through initiatives that promote personal and professional growth. This involves common initiatives outlined in the MOU aimed at improving lives.
  • Expanding Partnerships: APAA is eager to establish new partnerships to enhance its reach and impact. Identifying potential collaborators will be key, particularly those interested in co-developing projects.
  • Narcan Outreach Strategy: We need a comprehensive outreach plan for Narcan distribution that includes community involvement and support. Collaborating with Marvin, APAA’s opioid expert, will strengthen this initiative.
  • Brand Sensitivity in MOU: It’s vital to maintain clarity around brand sensitivity in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to ensure all parties respect the brand’s image and values.
  • Social Media Collaboration: Increasing social media presence through strategic partnerships is a priority. Sharing content and joint initiatives will help amplify our message and reach a broader audience.
  • Next Steps in South Dallas: Plans involve local operations in South Dallas, including a collaboration with an APAA artist on a new design. This will be part of a project that includes distributing free Narcan. We’re in the process of cost assessments and have identified a contact to guide us.
  • MLK Float: APAA is interested in creating a float for the MLK parade, showcasing community spirit and engagement.
  • Peer Recovery and Support: There is a strong focus on peer recovery and support, especially for youth and adolescents, to foster a recovery lifestyle.
  • Planning and Execution: A commitment to well-planned and executed initiatives with the goal of creating repeatable events is emphasized.
  • Unavailable Building: The neighboring building is not available for use, necessitating alternative planning.
  • Recovery at the Movies: APAA is pushing for a “Recovery at the Movies” program to engage and support the community.
  • South Dallas Focus: Continued efforts will be directed towards uplifting South Dallas communities.
  • Referral Assistance: Additional support for referrals is needed to enhance community services.
  • Arts and Sobriety Events: APAA values the integration of arts and sobriety, promoting family-friendly events and experiences.
  • Media Involvement: There’s a need to stay informed about media opportunities and upcoming news.
  • Volunteer-Based Opioid Response: The organization is open to working with volunteers for opioid-related initiatives.
