Ongoing Updates

  • APAA Update: The Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (APAA) now includes Free Narcan Vending Machines and Water Without Barriers stations. We replenish approximately 50-75 condoms and 48 bottles of water weekly. The Narcan machines are widely utilized, dispensing nearly 50 units at APAA alone.
  • Reno’s Narcan Installation: A new Narcan vending machine and condom supplies have been installed at Reno’s, with a weekly usage of about 20 items, demonstrating a strong commitment to public health protection.
  • GISD Collaboration Efforts: We have extended our collaboration with the GISD, receiving support from Superintendent Dr. Richard Lopez. Discussions are underway with their purchasing department, with Dr. Lopez playing a key role in decision-making. We will continue coordinating with Nurse K as part of this strategic initiative.
  • Recovery Resource Alliance: Acknowledgements to Michael and Becky for their crucial contributions to enhancing our recovery resources, guiding us through the complexities of addiction support.
  • Upcoming First Friends Giving Potluck: Scheduled for November 17th at the Delabano Household from 3 to 6 pm, this event offers an opportunity for community bonding and mutual inspiration through a potluck gathering.
  • Livegy Fundraising Event: Scheduled for November 14th, Livegy aims to generate funds, surpassing expectations.
  • Collaborative MLK Parade Float: APAA has requested our creative input for their float in January’s MLK parade. We are developing a project scope and cost estimate for an anticipated audience of 25,000.
  • Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is being sought to formalize the collaboration.
    Alaskan Narcan Initiative: We have engaged with our contacts in Alaska to install a Narcan vending machine, with shipping costs covered. This initiative seeks to extend our mission to northern regions.
  • San Antonio Narcan Delivery: Scheduled for November 1st, we will deliver a Narcan Vending Machine alongside an artistic installation. We are coordinating with local media for potential coverage.
  • UNC Art Collaboration: A Narcan Vending Machine is being sent to UNC in North Carolina for artistic enhancement by Tiffany, aiming to make it a focal point for students.
    Nar Can Do It Website Launch: Introducing torctexas.org, a platform for resource sharing and partnership collaboration, enhancing Narcan awareness.
  • QR Code Innovation: We have implemented QR codes linking to valuable resources, user surveys, and a brief Narcan-use tutorial, contributing to a comprehensive data collection effort.
  • Enhanced Community Collaboration: Engaging with Dallas Fire Department officials, city council representatives, and DART to enhance our opioid response initiatives, working towards improved community health.
  • Narcan Vending Machine Art Phases: Currently redesigning 30 machines for artistic installation by the end of the year. Despite the absence of funding or sponsorship, our commitment to this creative endeavor remains steadfast.
